Student Organization to Assist With Voter Registration

EDINBURG - These students,faculty and staff are among many at UTPA  making a commitment to raise voter awareness across campus, at a swearing in ceremony recently, they vowed do their part in supporting the local "GET OUT TO VOTE" Campaign Spearheaded By a New group called Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas which is a non-partisan, non-profit orginization formed to promote greater participation in the electoral process, as official deputies, these folks are able to assist with voter registration leading up to the march 5th deadline. Delma Olivarez oversees UTPA's movement. She says this is the second such event at Pan-Am.

As part of their effort, the deputized students, faculty and staff are participating in several voter registration drives scheduled in the student union commons area like this one held recently, their goal is to encourage individuals, Particularly students who haven't regisered to vote to stop by their booth and complete an online application. Those needing help are being guided through the process. In the end, they're reminded of the importance of their vote and voice in the electoral process and are being urged to cast their ballot when the time comes.
