MERCEDES- It's considered one of the most difficult exams you'll ever take in your lifetime. Even though millions of students put in hours to study for the test only a few will get a perfect score. 16 year old Anjali Bhatla is one of the special few who scored perfectly on the exam and she is from the valley.

"It was a complete shock," says Bhatla. "My mom always told me to aim for a perfect score but I was like no mom it's not possible and then it just happened."

The 3 hour and 45 minute exam has gotten harder over the years. Getting a perfect score is no easy task. Anjali spent months preparing for the exam. Now that the results are in this valley native only has medicine on her mind.

"I'm interested in being a Doctor and also doing some scientific research," she said. "As colleges go, I'm looking into Rice, Stanford and University of Pennsylvania."

Anjali credits her parents and the teachers at the Science Academy of South Texas. She 's just a little over a year away from her freshman year of college. Now that she's on the right path she hopes to inspire other young students in the valley.

"You're never going to get this time back so I think you should definitely when we have the resources in this area and teachers that are willing to teach and schools that are willing to give you the education that you need," she said. "You should take that opportunity because you don't want to miss it."
