BROWNSVILLE - Everyday the Animal Shelter receives about 40 to 50 stray dogs and cats from across the city and if one of these animals is yours, you don't have much time to save your pet's life.

Shelter officials say each animal is given a minimum of 72 hours before they're euthanized. According to Robert Dupong the three day window is part of a city ordinance which allows owners a chance to reunite with their pet's before more room is made for new lost and found animals.
