Millions of dollars worth of drugs head north after crossing through the U.S./Mexico borders illegally and hundreds of pounds of narcotics are funneled through the Valley. Statistics show that authorities are stopping drug smuggling in record numbers.

Since October, CBP officers in Brownsville have confiscated more than $40 million dollars worth of drugs and made 51 arrests. They've seized over a thousand pounds of marijuana, and 37 pounds of Heroin. The biggest bust was made in early February when officers discovered 560 pounds of cocaine hidden inside a commercial shipment of cantera stone and valued at $18 million dollars.

It has been a team effort between Border Patrol and U.S. Customs and Border Protection and they credit top notch detecting skills and high tech equipment for all their success.
