Pizza dough spinning skills earn college student a spot on the U.S. Pizza Team. Kimberly Barbour reports.
(WRCB) Athletes have the Olympics, actors have the Oscars, but you may not realize pizza makers have their own elite competition. 23-year-old Bradley Johnson just returned to Chattanooga, Tennessee from Italy where he proved he can dominate the dough.
Johnson is on the U.S. Pizza Team, something he never even knew existed a few years ago, but then he got a job at Mellow Mushroom as a way to make money while attending UTC. Then, his dad challenged him.
"He said 'I bet you could never do that,' so I had to show him up," Johnson said.
He started with spinning a wet towel and then rubber practice dough.
"It became a hobby. Instead of just sitting and watching TV, throw dough and watch TV now," Johnson said.
