Man in superhero mask holds up Utah store.

Utah police say a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man wasn't so friendly.

Unified police detectives were looking Tuesday for a man last seen wearing a Spider-Man mask who robbed a Maverick convenience store in Riverton.

He entered the store about 2:20 a.m. and brandished a gun according to police Sgt. Justin Hoyal.

He then demanded the clerk hand over a cellphone.

"As the clerk was opening the till, the suspect then grabbed a couple of cartons of cigarettes, put them in a black backpack, then told the clerk to put the money in the backpack," Hoyal said.

Before the man left the store he ripped the store's phone cord out.

He left the woman's cellphone outside the store near the doorway.

"This is a very dangerous situation," Hoyal said. "This is a dangerous individual."

Police searched with K9s but found nothing.

Now they're hoping a tip from a member of the public will point them in the right direction.

Hoyal said investigators want to get "some info as to who he is and get him caught before he'd have the opportunity to do it again."

Police say the man was about 6 feet 3 inches tall and was last seen wearing blue jacket, gloves and a Spider-Man mask.
