Within a week two BISD school buses have caught fire, one taking place on October 9th and the other on October 4th.

BISD says quick thinking from both bus drivers got all the kids off the bus safely.
Between the two buses there were 59 students on board. BISD says initial reports say both fires started in the front of the bus.

Following the two school bus fire BISD officials have contacted the bus manufacturer, International Corporation. They have send down specialists from Chicago to take a look at the two buses that caught fire and in addition to several other buses.

"To look at those buses, as well as the rest of the fleet under their company we have about 100 buses from the same company. They will check those buses to see number one they are safe, number two buses that had problems what happened, and at same time giving us guidance to go from there."said Superintendent Dr. Carl Montoya.

“Parents don't need to be concerned, because number 1 because we have a fleet out about 300 buses and these are the only two that have occurred literary in years, so the buses have been safe, and we have a group of bus drivers and monitors on the bus.”said Montoya.
