This field at Oliveira Park will soon be transformed into a state of the art field similar to this one. One that is accessible for those with special needs
Sergio and Dolores Zarate have an 11 year old daughter with special needs. They say they cannot wait for the field to be ready.

"If the city didn't have baseball fields, a little league baseball field, what would it feel like? you know you played you participated you cheered, to be able to have that with a child with special needs that participates as a parent I am so glad it’s happening in our backyard."said Zarate

"Sports and activities are great for anybody and great for anyone with special needs, this will give them an opportunity to be involved in a sport."said Zarate

The league will be called the Star League. Once the field is complete the children will get to play several games throughout the season.
Ismael Olivares has a son with special needs. He will be in charge of the Buddy program. Olivares will gather volunteers to help the kids out during the games.

"When you let me be a part of what my son is doing and being able to come out here and participate with him it makes it feel worthwhile there is nothing else I would rather do." Said Olivares.

Zarate is hoping the field will be ready to play ball starting in October.
