Spanish Speaking Students Show of English Language Skills
Several adult students in Pharr took part in a career festival on Friday. Spanish speaking students got the chance to show off their English skills to college representatives and business owners.
It's a language they recently learned through the Pharr Literacy Project and it's designed to help students prepare for jobs and college. One of the founders of the project says learning English is the first battle for these students because most of the students are adults and not bilingual. The project also offers classes to Valley residents for business, resume building and how to search for jobs.
