South Padre Island marathon runner reacts to Boston Marathon tragedy

This was scene Monday in Boston, what was supposed to be a nice finish to a 26.2 mile accomplishment turned tragic. Three people are confirmed dead and more than 100 were injured as a bomb exploded right near the finish line.
Back here in the Rio Grande Valley South Padre Island marathon runner Norma Turkington really feels for the victims. She ran the Boston marathon in 2007.

"It’s unthinkable it’s been weighing heavy on my mind."said Turkington.
"My heart went out to the runners, the families the spectators."

Turkington says she remembers the race back in 2007 like it was yesterday.

"What a wonderful experience, the fans."said Turkington

Turkington says atmosphere was incredible.

"Looking to the side of me, I could hear people saying I can't believe we are in Boston we are here we are doing it, that's when it hit home."

In 2007 Turkington finished with a time of 3 hours and 46 minutes, not too far off from the time the bomb went off Monday into the race. Turkington who has friends that live in Boston says say is praying for all the victims and the whole city of Boston.
