Son Charged In Couples Murder
Police say 17-year-old beat mother and father to death.
The son of an Illinois couple found dead over the weekend in their Palos Park home has been charged with their murders.
John Granat, 17, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the beating deaths of his mother and father, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said Tuesday.
Dart said Granat made a 911 call Sunday morning from his family home, tipping off police that his parents were dead.
The bodies of John Granat, 44, and Maria Granat, 42, were found in their bedrooms.
An autopsy determined John Granat suffered blunt force trauma to the head, while Maria Granat suffered blunt force trauma to the head and was repeatedly stabbed.
Their son was questioned about his activities in the hours before he made the 911 call, Dart said.
An investigation by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Investigations Unit determined it was Granat who carried out those brutal murders.
