A third grader from Dr. Rodriguez Elementary School in Harlingen got a huge surprise when her brother showed up after serving nine months in Afghanistan.

Marisa Gamboa was having a normal day at school when she got one of the best gifts she could ask for.

Her brother, Eric Gutierrez, had just come back from Afghanistan five days ago, when he decided to surprise his little sister.

Gamboa says she was excited and surprised. She also talked about all the things she plans on doing with her brother while he's home.

"Go to Chuck-e-Cheese's go mini golfing, go to the beach, and do lots more things," said Dr. Rodriguez Elementary School student Marisa Gamboa.

"It was amazing," said US Army specialist Eric Gutierrez. "It was a feeling that you can't buy. It's a unique feeling. I'm here. It's been too long since I've been away from them and I just kind of want to do what they want to do."

Gutierrez is stationed at Fort Hood and is not sure when his next deployment will be.
