Sobriety check points could be headed back to Texas as the Senate approved a bill allowing sobriety check points in the state, but the House must approve the bill.
If passed, police will be allowed to set up roadblocks to check for drunk drivers in counties with more than 250,000 people and cities with half a million residents. South Padre Island does not apply though because under the bill, roads that serve as a single route into an area, such as the causeway, could not be used for check points.
