Don't let the battle against snow and ice cause injuries.

People all over the country are battling snow and ice.

It's important to remember that you are using a snow blower or just a shovel, there are ways to clear the snow without breaking your back.

"Do it in shifts. Definitely stretching helps, you don't want to throw your back out," advises Home Depot supervisor Manny Sanchez.

There are also specially curved shovels you can use so you don't have to bend down.

Salt is another must have to keep driveways and sidewalks safe.

The Red Cross also recommends keeping your gas tank full in case you become stranded.

When you're outside dress in layers, and if you have a generator at home never use it indoors.
