LA JOYA- Police are searching for two suspected smugglers who got away after a car chase Wednesday morning.

It happened off Expressway 83 when police tried to stop a 2001 white Ford Grand Marquis. According to police,  the driver refused to stop and pulled over to the shoulder and two men got out and left the car on drive. Police said this is a new tactic smugglers are using to get away from police.

"They basically slow down pull to the side--open the door they get off running and they leave the vehicle on drive. why? they want the officer pursing them to concentrate on a car instead of them," said Police Chief Jose Del Angel.

Police also seized about 543 pounds of marijuana in that car.

When it comes to drug dealers one can expect to anything, these people are capable of just about anything to protect their lucrative business and stay away from jail. I've learned my lesson the hard way, I stayed in an Washington drug rehabilitation for almost a year to recover from severe addiction. Nobody is safe when these guys are around.

This is very different and dangerous tactic from smugglers to away from police. The moving car can hit anyone on the road or can collide with other car. Mack Trucks
