Six Suspects Face Judge for Involvement in Deadly Shooting

One suspect killed, Sheriff's Deputy wounded

Six suspects believed to be involved in a deadly weekend shooting in Edinburg were charged Tuesday afternoon. The group was charged with possession of marijuana. The drugs were confiscated during a shooting incident involving an Hidalgo County Sheriff's Deputy. All six have confessed to the crime. Police say the drugs belonged to cartel members in Mexico. Five of the suspects were illegal immigrants, one was a U.S. citizen.
Each may face more severe charges ranging from kidnapping and murder.  The shooting was the first confirmed incident of spill-over violence in Hidalgo County.
