Six people behind bars in connection to Edinburg cop shooting

EDINBURG, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Six people are in custody for their alleged involvement in the shooting of an Edinburg police officer on Thursday night.
Four males and two females were arrested over the weekend and will be arraigned this afternoon on various charges.
Bernabe Lee De La Paz (pictured top left corner) is charged with attempted capital murder and aggravated robbery.
Victor Miguel Hernandez (pictured top middle) is facing charges for attempted capital murder, aggravated robbery, and tampering with evidence.
Melissa Yvette Hernandez (pictured top right corner) is also being charged with attempted capital murder, aggravated robbery, and tampering with evidence.
Luis Miguel Hernandez (pictured bottom left corner) is charged with attempted capital murder and aggravated robbery.
The two remaining individuals are in custody for allegedly harboring De La Paz in an attempt to prevent his arrest.
Danielle Valadez (pictured bottom middle) and Zachary Whittemore (bottom right corner) are facing charges for hindering apprehension or persecution.
The officer who was injured on Thursday night received gun shot wounds to each of his legs. He was immediately taken to McAllen Medical with non-life threatening injuries and was released on Friday afternoon.
The officer's identity remains unknown at this time, but Edinburg police chief Rolando Castañeda confirmed in a press conference that the officer who was shot is a 24-year-old Iraq veteran who has been with the Edinburg police department for three years.
