Six individuals sentenced to prison for drug conspiracy
McAllen, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Six individuals were sentenced to prison for their involvement in a marijuana and cocaine conspiracy.
A U.S. District Judge sentenced Jose Guadalupe Rangel-Hernandez, 51, of Miguel Aleman, Carlos Guerra, 36, of Pharr; Guy Oshiro Lugo, 48, of Alamo; Lineth Guerra, 39, of Mission; and Deborah Garcia, 46, and Alberto Aguirre, 49, both of Weslaco, received sentences of 17, 14, 13, 10 years and 19 years.
All of the defendants had pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute 11 pounds of cocaine.
The investigation began in 2009 and ended in 2011, authorities state that Israel Garcia was responsible for distributing thousands of tons of marijuana and cocaine.
In January 2011, Garcia and Lineth Guerra were arrested at a McAllen hotel with possession of more than $300,000.
