The Department of Public Safety says the chase started after a pickup truck was stolen from the Alton Police Department.  It ended at the intersection of Western Avenue and Seven Mile Road.   "Everybody thought that a police car or rather an ambulance, was after a car," said Jaime Nunez, a witness at the scene. "But then I saw an immigration agent's car and I guess that made it clear that immigration was on this case also."

"There were four children, 2 adults, one family and a little one that they sent to the hospital," said a witness who only wished to be identified as Juanita. "On the property there were brains and pieces of leg."

DPS has identified the driver of the stolen truck as Hector Ramirez from Roma.  After the crash, he fled and was arrested soon afterward.  He's still at the hospital.

DPS says the crash is still under investigation.
