Sisters arrested attempting to smuggle marijuana at port of entry

Two sisters were handed over to Brownsville narcotic agents and arrested for attempting to smuggle over 93 pounds of marijuana at a port of entry.

On Monday, December 9th the two sisters, identified as Micaela Fonseca, 24, and Claricia Fonseca, 25, attempted to cross into the United States in a Lincoln Navigator at the Gateway port of entry.

During an inspection of the vehicle Custom officers found 22 bundles, weighing over 93 pounds, in a spare tire.

Both sisters were arrested and handed over to Brownsville police and are awaiting arraignment.
