The Miss Michelle is back to the Brownsville Shrimp Basin after being in the Gulf for 45 days. This morning they are loading up the shrimp they caught from their trip.

"It was good trip"

David Gujardo is the operator of the Miss Michelle. He's been a fisherman for around 20 years.

"We brought 290 boxes that is a lot of production.."

"We are at the bottom of the boat this is where keep all the shrimp once they catch out of the water they keep it at a chilly 25 degrees."

Each one of these weighs 100 pounds. This trip they caught around 29,000 pounds of shrimp.
Gujardo says it's critical to bring in full loads like this with the cost of fuel and how much they use on a trip.

"It's hard these boats waste 300 gallons a night depending on the boat at three a gallon you can check out the gallon its very expensive."

Gujuardo says usually catch most of their shrimp along the Texas coast but after the hurricane hit in Louisiana they decided to make a trip over there, and they said it was well worth it ."

"We got 27 boxes every box equals 100 pounds that day and night 24 hour work."

Gujardo is back for only a week . He looks forward to spending time with family that includes his four children.

"I am looking forward to seeing this afternoon hopefully."

Then it's back to the gulf for another 45 days of catching shrimp
