Thousands of people flooded shopping centers all cross the upper Valley in hopes of finding major bargains for Christmas.

La Plaza Mall in McAllen opened its doors at 5 AM on Friday and some other merchants opened their doors earlier in the morning as shoppers were ready to spend  and save money. With nearly 15 million people still out of work retailers were extra generous this year offering discounts on items of up to 75% the original price. Many customers waited in long lines to enter the stores while other's just threw in the towel for the day.
