A Harlingen man, who attempted to shoplift some merchandise from a store, was detained by a loss prevention officer as he tried to walk out the store with three DVD's.

Ezequiel Torres then struck the officer in the mouth as he attempted to flee the store, but was detained. The assault on the loss prevention officer upped the charge from shoplifting to robbery because the assault happened in the commission of a theft.
