Police are still looking for the shooter.
MISSION - Mission Police are investigating a shooting on the 1300 block of Sonora Road. They said it happened around 7:30 a.m. when a man walked up to the house, asking about the water meter and wanting to speak to the home owner.
But instead of talking about the water meter, the man forced his way into the home, shooting a 32 year old resident with a 20-guage shotgun.
Police aren't releasing the man's name at this time. He sustained two gun shot wounds, one to the shoulder and one in the back of his leg.
"So far he is stable, probably going to require some surgery. The preliminary investigation is real brief on information right now," said Sgt. Jody Tittle, Mission Police PIO.
Police said there is no history of crime at this home or around this residential area. Police spoke with other residents of the home to try and get a description of the shooter.
"From what we understand, it's possibly an Anglo male, with a beannie cap on, armed with a shot gun, the victim was shot inside his own residence," said Tittle.
Police also believe the man to be about 5 foot 9 inches.
Police do not believe this to be a drug related incident, but hope to get more information from the victim later at McAllen Medical Center.
Police have no suspects at this time, but they're asking that if you have any information to give them a call at Crime Stoppers, 956-581-8477.
