The Sharyland and new Pioneer football teams may have new goodies after this holiday season.

Sharyland football coach Ron Adame took second place in a contest to find the best coach in Texas.  It was decided through an online vote.  For the honor, the Rattlers program will $10,000 to use.

Sharyland will be split off with Pioneer High next school year.  Where the money goes and how much still needs to be decided.

"Phillip Escamilla, the individual that nominated me, and wrote the essay, he's going to the new school if I'm not mistaken," Adame said. "I think it's just fair that part of this money goes to wherever it may be that he's attending. If he stays here, then the money will stay here."

Sharyland completed an undefeated regular season and took home a district title.  Coach Adame said the money could be used in the weight room or for better video equipment.
