Several Valley Residents Die After Tour Bus Collides With 18-Wheeler

A bus crash near Saltillo, Mexico has claimed the lives of several Americans. Some of those are from the Valley.

The bus was transporting a group of Texas retirees and several teachers as they headed to Zacatecas for a tour excursion.

Mexican officials say the tour bus was 34 miles from Saltillo, Coahuila when a tractor-trailer hit the bus head-on. The Associated Press reports 7 out of the 11 people who died in that crash were Americans. Investigators say the driver of the 18-wheeler was drunk. He lost control and swerved into the bus's lane on a highway outside Saltillo. They collided head-on killing the Mexican bus driver, at least 7 Americans and 3 Canadians.

11 people are reported dead. 16 people were injured. They were airlifted to 4 local hospitals in Saltillo. Mexican officials say the trucker will be charged with Involuntary Homicide.
