Funding for road and ditch construction in colonias is falling short and that is why Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. says he's pushing to increase state funding by $65 million dollars.

The original bill gave $175 million dollars to 23 counties in Southern Texas to repave, improve and construct roads   and drainage ditches in colonias. The funding was only able to help about 20% of Hidalgo's colonias and county officials say many of these residents are in desperate need of help.
