MCALLEN, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A U.S. Senate hopeful is in the Valley this week to get out her message.
Kesha Rogers is running in the Democratic Senate primary. She hopes to challenge Senator John Cornyn for his U.S. Senate seat.
Rogers has staked out a position calling for the impeachment of President Obama and reviving NASA to better protect Earth from asteroids.
Texas Democrats have distanced themselves from Rogers for her campaign positions.
"(The) Democratic Party, who has been in a losing streak for 16 years, who says they want to protect women and minorities, would actually condone such a candidate, and would say that I'm not a Democrat because I would like to impeach the president," Rogers said. "I think the party doesn't have their priorities straight, and I'm out to offer the population a real alternative."
Rogers will face David Alameel in the runoff election on May 27.
