Seat belt violation lands man in jail for possession of marijuana
A San Benito man is arrested and charged with possession of marijuana after he was spotted not wearing a seat belt while driving.
On Sunday, May 25th a Harlingen police officer observed the driver of a Nissan Titan not wearing his seat belt while driving down Ed Carey Drive.
As the officer conducted the traffic stop he observed the driver, later identified as Santos Samuel Cuevas, 32, reaching to the rear side of the front passenger seat.
Cuevas gave the officer consent to search the vehicle where the officer found 6.6 grams of marijuana inside a bag in the back pocket of the front passenger seat.
Cuevas was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and handed a $2,000 bond.
