Sea turtles released in Laguna Madre.

An update on the more than eight dozen sea turtles that were found on the beach and stunned by the cold waters of the Gulf.

Over hundred sea turtles were washed up onto the beaches last Saturday and Sunday when the Gulf waters became cold from last weeks freeze. Up to 40 turtles died and another 69 turtles were nursed back to good health this week and released on Tuesday in the Laguna Madre. The largest turtle weighed 100 pounds and the smallest down to 10 pounds.

Biologist ask that if you spot a sea turtle, not to touch it and contact the sea turtle hospital located on the island at 956.761.4511 so that it can be rescued.
