RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS (NEWS CENTER 23) — School leaders are speaking out and believe that the lack of funding is harshly impacting classrooms and since the State of Texas doesn't have a state income tax school districts rely heavily on local property taxes to fund their schools. School districts say not only are the poor districts struggling in funding but also wealthy districts are feeling the impact as cuts continue to be made making it unable to meet the increasing academic standards set by the state.
