School District Makes Up Missed School Day
MCALLEN — Students in the McAllen and Sharyland school district will be making up missed school days from the hail storm several weeks ago.
The McAllen I.S.D. says, in both the spring and fall, schools pick a weather make-up day when school's have to close their doors due to unexpected situations. The district must have at least 177 days of education each school year. So, to meet the requirement and avoid adding days at the end of the school year they decided to have classes on Monday. Mark May from the McAllen I.S.D. said, "It's nice to have those weather makeup days built in, so if you have a small event like we did you can get it done before the regular end of school in May."
The school district is still repairing hail damage to three of it's school and the district board will gather to talk about the cost of the repairs.
