Save on gas money, head out to Schlitterbahn

AAA Texas forecasts 3 million Texans will travel 50 miles or more away from home from Thursday, May 22, to Monday, May 26. Of those travelers, 2.6 million will go by automobile.

Our exclusive survey of valley gas prices at the pump show prices have remained fairly flat over the past week, the average now is $3.44, as it was last Thursday.

Gas prices may hinder some people from travelling far places this weekend. However, there is a local solution to the problem.

People can save on travel costs this weekend by heading out to Schlitterbahn South Padre Island. Starting on Saturday at 10 am, they are officially open for full summer hours giving visitors a perfect opportunity to enjoy this long weekend.

The water park will feature a brand new ride, a five-story interactive sandcastle, and surfing competitions in the Boogie Bahn this season. Guests who visit this weekend will be the first to experience these newest attractions.
