Luis Carlos Santibanez pleaded guilty to manslaughter, in the death of Joan Sebastian Saldivar, and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

A jury began deliberations on Monday morning and on Tuesday the jury acquitted Santibanez on murder, but were hung on manslaughter. A plea deal was then made with prosecutors and defense attorneys and Santibanez took the plea deal. Santibanez was arrested in December of 2008 when Saldivar died from a gunshot wound to the head. Court documents state the pair argued over the theft of a car stereo which then escalated into a struggle with Saldivar inside a truck.
