SAN JUAN - The saga in San Juan continued on Tuesday as the city is facing a lawsuit from a group of recall petitioners.

Five members of the petition group were arrested in January of 2011 on charges of forgery and fraud. Those charges were thrown out by a grand jury and now that group is suing city leaders for slander, libel and false imprisonment. Attorney Leo Pruneda, who represents the group, said, "These were not fugitives who had robbed a bank or murdered someone or violent people. These are community leaders who have voiced an opinion at city hall. They want to improve the city, they want to work with the city commission, but instead they have been labeled criminals. They have been intimidated, they have been threatened, they have been basically stalked."

City leaders discussed the suit on Monday and gave their attorneys the okay to proceed with a defense.
