San Benito woman sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexual assault of a child

Desiree Lee Padilla, 22, was sentenced today to 25 years in prison with no possibility of early release for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Judge Migdalia Lopez of the 197th state District Court sentenced the San Benito resident to 25 years for aggravated sexual assault a child and 10 years for possession of child pornography.

Padilla was arrested in February by Harlingen PD with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Task Force after sexually-explicit images of a 1-year-old girl were sent by her to a sex offender in Corpus Christi. Padilla and the sex offender had been corresponding via the Internet and text. Assisting in the investigation was the U.S. Department ofHomeland Security.
