San Benito Police Captain Clarence Ebarb was arrested at an apartment complex in Harlingen over weekend.
Late Saturday night around 3am Harlingen Police responded to an apartment complex on the 1500 block of Sam Houston in Harlingen. There police say that a victim reported she had been assaulted by Clarence Ebarb, who is the victim's husband.
San Benito residents have their own opinion about charges brought forth against the police captain.
"He's a cop and supposed to keep the streets safe and everybody and to be found with that kind of stuff."
"I would not expect it from a police officer, they have there line of duty. They know what they are supposed to be doing, why do it wrong, when they know what they are supposed to do."
City leaders including the city manager met with the city attorney to discuss Ebrab's arrest. As of news time we are unable to disclose what information came out of that meeting.
We also tried contacting the San Benito Police department for a comment. As of news time they have not returned our calls. We were unable to confirm if Ebarb has been put on administrative leave because of his charges. Ebarb has posted his $1,000 bond.
