SAN BENITO - The San Benito city council is seeking legal advice from it's attorney after an ethics complaint against the mayor.

City commissioners will be discussing a complaint filed filed by Alfonso Benavides who claims Mayor Joe Hernandez is not only allowed but also supported the operation of an illegal raspa stand next to the barber shop owned by the mayor. Mr. Benavides says the mayor should have removed himself form discussions about the issue when it came before the city commission.

Mayor Hernandez doesn't think he's done anything wrong and says when the ordinance was passed he believed it was meant to keep roadside vendors from selling things like puppies and retail items.
