Murder suspect steals and crashes plane before committing suicide.
A Skywest Airlines pilot suspected in the death of his girlfriend took his own life atter his plan to steal a plane at Utah's St. George Municipal Airport ended with a failed takeoff attempt Tuesday.
40-year old Brian Joseph Hedglin parked his motorcycle, jumped the fence to the airport, gained access to a Skywest jet and started it's engines.
According to officials, he backed the plane up, then moved it forward, clipping the terminal.
He was unable to get the plane airborne and instead crashed into several empty cars in the parking lot.
A police officer patrolling the area noticed the motorcycle with it's engine still warm and shortly thereafter, discovered the plane.
Officers arrived on scene, entered the plane and found Hedglin dead from a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
Officials in St. George later confirmed that the motorcycle belonged to Hedglin and that he was wanted in Colorado Springs in connection with the death of his girlfriend.
Hedglin had been on the run for the last several days.
