BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Rabbis Chaim Landa and Mendel Konikov are moving throughout the Rio Grande Valley as part of a summer community outreach training for their organization Chabad, which is based out of Brooklyn, New York.
"The idea is to celebrate Judaism, we have been receiving a great response both from the Jewish community and from the larger community, people are really curious, the message is to increase with good deeds and that message resonates well with everybody."said Landa.
This morning Landa and Konikov met with Morris Elderstien, a practicing Jew from Brownsville.
"It's very nice to meeting rabbis from another community and to give them an opportunity to know our community, and share with them the Jewish experience in Brownsville, and to get to know their experience as well."
The two week visit for Landa and Konikov ends this weekend on South Padre Island.
"When we get back to New York we will share how the experience went, every time we are able to provide feedback it helps people coming here in the future knowing how the reception is and helping boost the Jewish community."said Konikov.
