Rio Grande City Native to Compete in Olympics

This is Stephen Saenz back in high school at Rio Grande City. He started throwing when he was only in 5th grade. During high school Saenz won two state championships and a national championship. Saenz from Rio Grande City who has dual citizenship in the US and Mexico is now at Auburn University. He's preparing the biggest stage of all as he will compete in the Olympics in London representing Mexico. We had to the chance to catch up with Saenz on Skype.

"How excited are you about competing in the Olympics in London?."
"I can't even imagine what it’s going to be like the opening ceremonies the athletes the Bolts, the Armstrongs of Canada, seeing all these people from the US, Europeans, Jamaican athletes, it's going to fun I can't wait."

Saenz says when he's not at class he is training for the Olympics.

"We do special strength with his hip flexor knee and ankle stability throw about 30 throw out of technique work, weights have been intense we are half a month off the Olympics and I am really trying to push the weights and move that bar fast."

Saenz says he will do his best in the Olympics and cannot thank anybody enough for supporting him.

"Not only am I representing the Rio Grande city but the whole valley and it's good to hear the positive feedback from the Valley I am up here but my mom and dad are like everyone is wishing you luck and feels good to have that supporting cast, when I go over that I am not alone."

Saenz says he will leave for the Olympics on July 23rd.
