School board trustees and local city officials gathered at ground breaking ceremony on Wednesday for a new high school to be built. The new school should be ready for students to attend in about 18 months and all that gathered at the ceremony were enthusiastic about the project as Superintendent Roel A. Gonzalez stated, "Well we have something very exciting, we are breaking ground on a replacement high school, a new high school to replace the old Rio Grande City high school." District officials say that 70% of the costs for the project came from public funding.
