RGV Coastal EXPO Teaches Kids About Wildlife In The Valley
Hundreds of students across the Upper Valley spent the day outdoors at the 2011 Rio Grande Valley Coastal Expo.
The yearly event is held in Edinburg and is designed to expose kids to the out doors and introduce them to different worlds.
Students weren't the only ones who enjoyed the adventure, volunteers learned a lot as well. Many of the activities were just plain old fun but others taught them about creatures, hands on.
Kids got the chance to feel and learn about creatures from all areas, especially those that exist in the Upper and Lower valley.
Lupe Medina is the Projects Coordinator for the UTPA Bio-Tech Lab.
He says everyone should appreciate the amount of wildlife right in our back yards.
It's no secret today's youth is obsessed with television, video games and technology.
Medina says its time to pull them away from the internet and keep them out doors.
