CAMERON COUNTY — Cell phone users in Cameron county can now register their phone with the county's Reverse 911 notification system.

The system will give you what you need to know in an event of an emergency  such as a hurricane. As of now every landline phone in the county is automatically been enrolled onto the call list and Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos says the Reverse 911 is important for residents, "I think where it's best going to be utilized is during the hurricane season, especially if we have alerts going out in certain neighborhoods in regards to flooding, in regards to high wind storms, in regards to evacuation routes, etc."
