Return of Sanibear

A bear with a knack for showing up in residential areas caused trouble in the the streets of Tampa, Florida.

His nickname is 'Sanibear.'

This roaming bear was seen near the University of South Florida before Florida officers tracked him to a tree on Busch Gardens property in Tampa.

Lt. Steve DeLacure is a Fish and Wildlife officer who shot the bear with a tranquilizer.

Some 15 minutes later Sanibear fell out of the tree onto the soft grass below.

"We had a job to do and wanted to do it right and do it right the first time and conserve the animal,” said Lt. DeLacure. “I think you can see that we've done that."

So why is the bear called Sanibear?

Turns out this guy is no stranger to Fish and Wildlife or populated areas for that matter.

Fish and Wildlife had been tracking this bear for almost a year.

Last week, they captured him in a residential area of Sanibel, Florida.

Officials with Fish and Wildlife say they plan to relocate Sanibear a little farther away from the bay area this time.
