SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — Being bilingual is not only a great skill to have but researchers are now saying it's good for the brain because fluency in two languages may be the key to preventing cognitive decline as you age. Researchers evaluated more than a hundred people and found that during memory tests, bilinguals and those who only speak one language scored about the same, however, in experiments where they had to switch between intuitive tasks, bilingual speakers were faster. Researchers say it's still too early to fully understand how language creates this kind of brain efficiency.
