SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Wednesday dozens and dozens of Sea Turtles were loaded up into trucks at Sea Turtle inc. They were then taken to Isla Blanca Park, and released back in the water.
For the past week they have been treated by Sea Turtle Inc employees.
The turtles were recovering after they were rescued from frigid temperatures last week.
They were suffering from hypothermia. Now that they are healthy again, and the water is warm enough, a big crowd of spectators got to witness this amazing release.
David Cromwell is an environmental educator at Sea Turtle Inc.
He is one of people at Sea Turtle Ic that helped save these turtles.
'It’s the most important thing you can possibly do, get an endangered specie back in the water, especially when it was closed to death a week ago prior to that, so this is just outstanding." said Cromwell.
Two of many spectators Wednesday were Bogey Nash and Zannah Nash. Last week they called Sea turtle last week after spotting a turtle struggling in the cold water. Wednesday that turtle was released back in the water.
"I feel great."said Nash.
