Resaca Walk coming to San Benito

SAN BENITO, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — The City of San Benito's Economic Development Corporation received a huge federal grant from the US Department of Commerce.
"We approached them about this property here 9.8 acres, we applied and received an award this year for $1.2 million to acquire and develop this site."said Executive Director of the San Benito EDC Salomon Torres.
The location on West business 77 near Sam Houston Blvd sits right on the Resaca. The city's first plan for the land is to build a new museum.
"For three museum's that comprise the coalition, the Freddy Fender museum, the Conjunto Hall of Fame Museum, and the History Museum of San Benito."said Torres.
Plans for the project called "Resaca Walk" are to also have restaurants along the water, and have a concept similar to the River Walk in San Antonio.
The Resaca Walk will also feature and a elevated boardwalk along the water.
The city hopes to start construction on the museum next fall.
