Rep. Eddie Lucio, III appointed to State Water Implementation Fund for Texas committee
AUSTIN,TX — Texas Speaker of the House of Representatives, Joe Straus, has appointed Rep. Eddie Lucio, III to serve on the newly created State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) Advisory Committee. The SWIFT advisory committee was created by the 83rd Legislature by the enactment of House Bill 4.
"I would like to thank Speaker Straus for giving me the opportunity to sit on this important committee," said Rep. Lucio. "The State Water Plan is vital to the future of Texas' economy."
HB 4 established the SWIFT account that will serve to fund vital water supply and conservation projects across the state. The advisory committee will also offer its recommendations on how projects in the State Water Plan should be prioritized, how to meet the legislation’s goals for conservation and assistance for rural areas and agriculture, the management of the SWIFT, and any other related issues the committee chooses to look after.
"After the passage of Proposition 6, the people of Texas entrusted us to prioritize the money from the state's Rainy Day Fund," added Rep. Lucio. "I am ready to meet the challenge of our state's water issues."
