Renaissance Hospital host seminar on cervical cancer awareness
McAllen, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — January was Cervical Cancer Awareness Month and doctors at the cancer center at Renaissance Hospital held a seminar for women about the subject and ways to prevent it. Dr. Agustin Martinez commented that one of the biggest problems women in the Valley do is not seeing a physician on a annual basis, "We see a lot of advanced cancers from lack of the typical screening. By screening, I mean annual visits, being able to come in and get checked."
Every year, more than 12,000 women in the U.S.. are diagnosed with cervical cancer and 4,000 will die from the disease.
